In this class we'll discuss and practice the basics of being prepared for outdoor emergency situations. The class consist of lecture, group participation, and will have a strong hands-on component where participants will practice a variety of outdoor skills. Topics discussed will include: necessities of survival, shelter, fire, water, food, navigation, and many others. This class will be held outdoors in a natural setting and will involve moderate activity.

An atlatl is a hunting tool created more than 20,000 years ago. It was often used to hunt megafauna such as wooly mammoth. Join us as we explore the history of the atlatl and how it is used today. Create you very own atlatl to take home, learn the technique for using it, and give it a try at Runge. Registration required. Ages 13-17

Archery is a fun, lifetime sport everyone can enjoy. Learn the basics of archery and how to shoot safely, then practice your newly learned skills under the supervision of Runge staff. Dress for the weather in closed-toe shoes. All equipment is provided. No registration required. Ages 7+

Note: Runge's outdoor range may not be accessible to participants who use a wheelchair or crutches. Please check for availability of an all-terrain wheelchair by contacting the program instructor at least two weeks in advance of the program date. No registration required. Ages 7+
