Registration required on-line (ages 11+; 11–15 years old must be accompanied by a participating adult)
Have you thought about hunting, but just don’t know where to start? Deer hunting is a challenging, yet exciting tradition here in Missouri. Come out to Burr Oak Woods and learn the basics of pursuing white-tailed deer. We will cover everything from scouting locations to hunting methods and more. Bring a water bottle. A portion of the program will be outside, dress for the weather.

does involve an actual hunting experience,
so all participants must meet any legal
requirements for hunting including licensing

Location: August A Busch Shooting Range

This program is for youth ages 11-15 that have not duck hunted before and want to learn how. The clinic is mandatory and will focus on safety, migration, decoys, clothing, hunting techniques, calling and more. The hunt will be held Sunday October 21, time to be announced. Must be hunter education certified and comfortable handling a shotgun.

Date: Monday, October 15, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Location: August A Busch Shooting Range

This program is for youth ages 11-15 that have not duck hunted before and want to learn how. Must hunter education certified and be comfortable handling a shotgun.

Date: Friday, October 19, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Location: Runge Conservation Nature Center

No registration required.
Join us at the Runge Nature Center as Hunter Education instructors demonstrate safe firearm handling, choosing the right ammunition, hunting safely in groups, and much more. Drop in anytime to ask a question, practice handling firearms, or just share a hunting story. This will not be a certification course for Hunter Education.

Date: Saturday, October 20, 2018 - 1:00pm to 5:30pm

Location: George O. White Nursery

This event will be an actual squirrel hunt using dogs to locate and tree. We will cover safety, biology, habits, equipment, skinning and game care, and learn about squirrel dog history and techniques concerning hunting squirrels with dogs. Come prepared to walk cross-country through the fall woods. Bring snacks and water if desired. Firearms will be provided and handled by MDC personnel.

Learn about hunting Missouri's elusive predator species in this beginners seminar. we will cover strategies, equipment, calling, firearms, and much more. This class is for all ages, but anyone 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants must not have filled an Archery permit prior to the hunt.
Participants must attend a pre-hunt clinic.
This hunt is intended for novice archery hunters. looking to harvest their first deer.
