Brookfield City Lake

This 118-acre lake provides excellent largemouth bass fishing.  A 12- to 15-inch protected slot length limit continues to improve the bass population.  Bass anglers can expect most of their catch to be fish 12 to 15 inches long, but it is not uncommon to catch bass around 20 inches. Anglers should focus their harvest on bass less than 12 inches long to keep the bass from overpopulating.  Larger bass can be released to fight again.  A high-quality channel catfish population exists in the lake.  Most of the catfish are from 12 to 15 inches long.  Anglers should use night crawlers or prepared baits fished off the bottom. Anglers interested in panfishing will find good numbers of bluegill, and crappie.  However, due to the recent die off of the flooded willows the crappie size structure has really decreased in this lake. Most crappie will be around 8-9 inches but there are a few that will reach 12 inches in length. Anglers should focus on removing as many crappie as they can to reduce the population so the remaining crappie can increase in size.
